Impact of extreme rainfall events on landslide activity in Portugal under climate change scenarios

چکیده
Abstract Rainfall is considered the most important physical process for landslide triggering in Portugal. It expected that changes precipitation regimes region, as a direct consequence of climate change, will have influence occurrence extreme rainfall events be more frequently, throughout century. The aim this study relied on assessment projected future over Portugal mainland and quantifying correlation between through Triggering Thresholds (RTTs). This methodology was applied two specific locations within Portuguese areas great geomorphological interest. To analyze past frequency events, we resorted to DISASTER database. evaluate possible precipitation, used Iberia02 dataset EURO-CORDEX models’ runs at 0.11° spatial resolution. analyzed performance simulate values series. simulated RCM-GCM runs, from EURO-CORDEX, multimodel ensemble mean. associated highest percentiles, RTTs’ percentiles. series, both representative percentiles comparison made historical (1971–2000) (2071–2100), considering concentration scenarios: RCP 4.5 8.5. In performance, mean appeared best representing models. As end century, when following scenario, models an increase values, whereas, 8.5 decrease values.

Climate Change Impact on Precipitation Extreme Events in Uncertainty Situation; Passing from Global Scale to Regional Scale
Global warming and then climate change are important topics studied by researchers throughout the world in the recent decades. In these studies, climatic parameters changes are investigated. Considering large-scaled output of AOGCMs and low precision in computational cells, uncertainty analysis is one of the principles in doing hydrological studies. For this reason, it is tried that investigati...
متن کاملUncertainty Investigation of Precipitation and Temperature Scenarios for the Sira Basin under Climate Change Impact
Results of assessment of the future climate change impacts is associated with some uncertainties. Considering the range of uncertainties increases reliability of the results. In this study, climate change impacts on daily precipitation, maximum and minimum temperature of Sira basin are assessed using LARS-WG model, for 2036-65 period. Accordingly, uncertainty of new emissions scenarios (RCP2.6،...
متن کاملImpacts of climate change on extreme precipitation events in arid (Bandar Abbas) and semi-arid (Shahrekord) stations in Iran
The aim of this paper is to project extreme precipitation events in an arid and a semiarid station. In order to project climate change based on general circulation models (GCMs), we have applied LARS-WG[1] downscaling tool. This stochastic weather generator down-scaled the climate of two synoptic stations using HADCM3 model and A2 emission scenario for 2040. We extracted extreme precipitation e...
متن کاملlinkage between climate change and extreme events in iran
in recent years, interest in climatic extreme events (droughts, floods and heat waves) has been growing not only due to their direct impact on many socio-economic sectors, but also as climate change indicators. in this study, the behavior of extreme events is investigated using extreme climate index software (ecis) package. the trend analysis of extreme indices is applied to daily series of tem...
